ARTIST STATEMENT

My journey as an artist is ever-evolving. As I grow and change, my work reflects this transformation. My job is exploring the deep depths of my own personal growth and self-discovery. Secrets are being exposed and brought to light for the first time. Emotions shared that were once held tight. There is power in vulnerability and honesty, and I am planning on showcasing that power through my art… allowing my deepest thoughts and emotions to spill and flow like paint itself.

 

Art isn’t always about creating a beautiful piece. It is about connection, to yourself, or your viewer. It is a pure release of emotions or thoughts through paint. They can be fun and flirty or dark and introspective. A scribble here, paint flicks there, every mark holding the key to inner growth and enlightenment. Every mark tells a story, if you are willing to find it. Each stroke soft like a kiss, or bold and brash, is a reflection of a moment in time. These sometimes chaotic movements build upon each other to produce the whole picture. Of personal growth, self-acceptance and finally inner peace. 

 

The women I paint are the embodiment of strength, transformation, resilience and self-enlightenment. They are symbols of self-discovery, of stories untold… but deeply felt. Each face tells a tale through it's many layers, capturing a fleeting emotion. Using bold brush strokes and a rich palette of my favourite colours — nothing is out of bounds.

 

Within each piece I push myself to the limits of what I deem capable of… then I push just a little further. I am creating a small window into who I am as a person, revealing fragments of my journey to those willing to look just a little deeper. 

 

It takes a huge amount of courage to share raw pieces of yourself with the world. Within each artwork, a story unfolds. Emotions rise and fall as does my confidence. Every layer of a new chapter exposes emotions so powerful that some have to remain hidden — just under the surface waiting to be understood. Others rise to the surface, yearning to be released into the world shining in their newfound light. 

 

My works are profoundly personal, even if it isn’t seen at first glance. They carry a depth to those willing to look under the surface a little. It holds meaning for those who take the time to see, to feel and make a connection. Take some time do a little soul-searching. Can you see yourself reflected in my work?

 

Through painting and art, I have found a deep connection to my inner self. My art is my story, and my way of making sense of the world and of past events. It is my therapy, my freedom, my truth. Stepping into your own story is the most freeing experience you will ever have… if you are brave enough to take that first step.
